The Computer Outpost first started in 1992 as a computer shop in Sydney's Northern Beaches.

In 1999 we launched an automotive website under the name Motor Traders Network, and soon after added an online shop selling automotive books which proved to be very popular.

We now concentrate all our efforts on the book shop and still specialise in automotive books and repair manuals, but now also sell books on all subjects. We are also now located in Sydney's Western suburbs.

We don't have a physical storefront. We keep overheads low by being Internet and mail order only, and pass on the savings to you.

Our online store has been refined over the years and we believe we have one of the best search facilities in the industry. We also put a lot of effort into categorising our books and have tried to bring the experience and enjoyment of browsing through a traditional book store into your home or office.

We are a small family business with Joanne as your usual first point of contact. She looks after customer service and sales.

Brian, Joanne's father, takes care of our online auction sales and despatching of orders.

Brian's wife, Linda, ensures that the book database is up-to-date and new books are added as they become available.

And Joanne's fiance, John, is our website developer. He also helps with enquiries, as he has plenty of knowledge of cars and motorbikes thanks to his personal collection of around one thousand motoring magazines.

 

A Business Operated by a Family of Automotive Enthusiasts

Brian has been riding motorcycles all of his life and presently rides a classic BMW R100RS from the later 1970s. Brian is originally from England and, with Linda often as a passenger, has travelled much of Europe following the motorcycle Grand Prix circuit. He also enjoys boating aboard his 60hp runabout.

Joanne recently obtained her motorcycle license and now has a 150cc scooter.

John has owned "too many" cars over the years and now has an mid-90's BMW 3-Series. He also rides and has a Suzuki SV650S.
